How about something simpler -
clamp.jpg
The CNC version is nice but looks a bit complicated to me (I guess you could slit the end of this if you wanted the pinch action or even put in cotters)

If 10 is the break point for 10 of the Geier -Bluhm vials. Count me in for two. You know where to send the invoice.

Ok it's time to make a list of who wants in on a bulk buy of levelling vials. I'm happy to coordinate and put the money up( people can pay up front or when I get them if they like). So either make a post here or send me a PM and I'll put a list together. Also I have found some nice commercial right angle connectors and will post some links later (flying today). Petes suggestion about linear rail shafts seems good with plenty of different sizes and lengths on eBay at good prices.

Mark, can you email or PM the details of the right angle connectors? I went looking for them and didn't really find anything in either right angle, or adjustable in other than smaller sizes. I have some indicator holders in "let's get serious about this" sizes, and would like to see about getting some more. Along with clamps, I don't think you can ever have too many indicator holders!

Hi Pete,
Check out D & D Barry in Sydney. They have a good website. Haven't spoken to them about price but will give them a ring this week. Smallest size seems to be 20mm.

The list for the vial order stands at
Machtool x 2
Scottyd x 1
PDW x 2
Mark Gray x 2
Argeng x 2
Stustoys x 2
JohnQ x 1
Snapatap x 2
Pete F x 2
Cueball x 2
which makes a total of 18. As per their website the cost for 10 plus of the 4-6010 is $85.53 US each which given our diving dollar is somewhere around $120 Au plus freight each. If anyone else wants to in send me a PM in the next day or two (or if anyone wants out) and I'll put the order in at the end of the week.
Cheers Mark

Hi everyone,
It has been brought to my attention that the group buy thing may be against forum rules and severely frowned upon. I have send a message to the moderator and await his response. So will hold fire for the moment till I hear back and see what his response is. He may post here or I will relay his response.
Cheers

Strange, I was going to pm you about that, but Big Shed beat me to it with a post about it.....when that post disappeared I assumed it had all been sorted.

Hi Mark,
There was a bit of a kerfuffle a while back when people were getting together group buys, sometimes buying things in competition with companies who advertise on the site, so there is potentially a conflict of interest. I'd suggest that you take it off the forum and start a mailing list, that way you avoid possible conflicts. There are some rules/guidelines to follow somewhere....

Many thanks to Neil for his quick reply.
G'day Mark - I take it the person who brought the rule to your attention was Big Shed. I saw he had done this and deleted his post from the thread.
Metalwork Forums will shortly be going live on it's own site and a few things will change when it does. I don't have a problem with the group buys so long as they aren't happening on a regular basis and doing Australian manufacturers or re-sellers out of sales. The rule about group buys was brought in because of a couple of individuals on WWF who had made a habit of doing group buys and denigrating local sellers of products whilst appearing to be lining their pockets.
The group buys also ended up putting a moderator in a really bad position because he had gone guarantor for one of the buys that went slightly south and caused a lot of problems for him even thought he had nothing to do with the buy.
Long story short, to protect the forums, the members and the Admin team it was decided to clamp down on the buys as per what you would have seen in the post you were directed to. Keeping them off line was the safest and wisest thing to do for the forums.
However when Metalwork goes live on the new site a lot of things like the Group Buys will change, at least initially or until there is a problem.
If you can hang off until the new site is up there won't be a problem.
Hope this is of some help
Cheers - Neil
PS Not sure when the new site will be up. Was hoping for it to happen tonight but doesn't at this stage look like happening.
Cheers
Mark

I'd just add, each and every one of those blokes on that list, was a guest of mine here for the scrapping workshops, over a two day weekend. Many hundreds of dollars were exchanged. With out fail, there wasn't a cent that went missing.
Mark, Stu, PDW, Pete F, Cue, Argeng, Scotty. There hasn't been granite / machine / scraper / blue, that hasn't been through my half way house factory. I'd testify for most of them,
The one and only bloke that I've not had the pleasure of shaking hands with is JohnQ. But that's just because the occasion to meet him yet hasn't arisen. I'd cut him the same slack as the other 9 I've meet.
I understand the group buy thing. But I'd just add, for the most part all of us in the list know each other really really well.
We'll only take it underground. There's only one email I don't have in contacts.
Regards Phil.
