Kreg® K5 Pocket-Hole Joinery System - Lee Valley Tools
$139 US = $187 AU
Kreg® K5 Master System - Lee Valley Tools
$159 US = $213 AU
Shipping quote from Lee Valley in Canada as all their Check Store Availability lists shops in Canada only.
But also shows made in USA. Go figure.
UPS Express $46.49 USD ($63 AU) 5 to 6 business days (tracking available)
A bit extra shipping cost for the clamp weight in the master system.
$20 US difference = $27 AU
? $ difference in shipping
=====
Spoke with Carbatec again on Monday.
I think the did confirm container made the ship.
Not sure if K5s made the container. LOL. Go figure.
Pre-paid will get theirs in 1.5 weeks.
Shops will get their extras for off the shelf purchases in 3 weeks.
hthThanks,

As far as I know, Lee Valley has no retail stores in the US, only a shipping facility in Ogdensburg, New York state, just across the border from Canada.
However, there appears to be a Lee Valley store in most major cities in Canada, and sometimes more than one store.
Given how busy the few Lee Valley stores I've been in are, I suspect most Canadian customers shop in person, or arrange for orders to be delivered to their local store.
In terms of "go figure" ... if you thought Australia Post was bad, wait till you've dealt with Canada Post.regards from Alberta, Canada

I have owned the kreg jig and this one Portable Pocket Hole Jig which in my opinion is a better product than the kreg. It has much less plastic than the kreg and is a lot cheaper. It also has infinitely variable distance between the two drilling supports which has proven important to me. Worth considering and no, I don't work for them.

Received my K5 Master system from LeeValley. Got the extra hole clamp and vacuum attachment. Spent an extra $25AU incl. shipping from Canada and exchange rate over what it would have cost me here with free shipping. If I could actually get one.
Ordered last Tuesday. Cancelled the order once as I thought the total was plus postage but was including postage. Then changed the order to add the extra clamp. Got package sent email last Thursday. And received it today.
Pretty happy.Thanks,

That is a very good delivery time from Canada. I have had similar experiences with LV. Great service from a great family owned company. The extra $25 is not too bad as it is uncertain when the jigs will be available in Aus.
I have had my Kreg jig for about 10 years now (the old K2000 version) and it is just great. I know some people will knock it, but there many times I use it even though I own the Festool domino.

Les
