expensive throw
The older border collie is obsessed with the TV and watches it (or at least comes into the living room when it is on) all day and night till we switch it off. Any violence, animals, (especially dogs and sheep), dodgy characters like Trump, and sport can set her off barking and rushing up to the screen. Anything on top of the entertainment unit ends up in a heap over the back. The telly is bolted to the wall other wise it too would be swept over. Several times we have come into the room and she has been sitting on top of the ent unit staring a TV bady down.
Every couple of days we have to reach over the back of the entertainment unit and pull out something or other.
We have tried controlling this using the HF noise emitted and also an electro shock collar to no avail. If she starts to get to excited now we put her on a leash tied to a nearby stair bannister.
Last night she had been good so I took her off the leash but minutes later to charged up to e.g. ent unit and the turntable and amp went tumbling over the back. In desperation I threw the TV remote at her but I missed and it hit the wall and exploded into pieces. Normally the batteries just pop out but this time there were about 10 plastic pieces, and a circuit board under the sofa. Plus most of the outer case locking tabs had snapped off.
I though oh lets see what a new one costs - as it is a newish model it turns out it is $120!
So I then spent 45 minutes supergluing as many of the pieces I could find back together and because of the missing case tabs held the two main sides together with a couple of rubber bands. However, I could not get it to work because there were some pieces missing that secured the battery in place. What I ended up doing was hard soldering the batteries in place and then it worked.
My son also just informed me that last Xmas he gave us a USB generic remote that can be used to replace this one.

It was why when we had cats and dogs they were never allowed in the house.

Was he/she sitting next to you wagging its tail while you were repairing the remote?

I love dogs but pretty much every Border Collie has some sort of OCD, barking at anything that moves, playing with a tennis ball 'til there front teeth wear away.
They are lovely but are way too much work for me, still I'd rather have 10 crazy border collies that one cat, had cats as a kid and thought they were great then got a dog and realised how wrong I was, dogs are so much fun.

Did I say we had two BCs? TV dog Wlllow and younger dog Skye.

Other than the TV thing with Willow they are really lovely dogs. Skye is obedient, gentle and only slightly ball obsessed. She can take a specky overhead mark.
They hang out with me in the shed like curious kids. Skye surrounds me with a ring of balls so I have to be careful stepping backwards.

Our new dog, Alice, also has a ball fetish (squeaky toy actually) she won't go anywhere without it so I guess it's more of a security blanket. She is always dumping it at your feet ready for a game. Alice's daytime bed is situated in front of the TV, she lies on her bed absolutely engrossed in the screen: horses, dogs and cats are her favourites; although, she does like action movies and follows the action from one side of the screen to the other. First dog we've had that chased balls and watched TV.

Not about dogs but had chooks that every time they heard the tv on would purch on the pot plant rack outside the lounge window and watch tv, turn it off, they would go do their chook thing, turn it on, they would run to the plant stand and watch, figure that one out!
The person who never made a mistake never made anything
Cheers
