I was there yesterday at opening time, and from a relatively quick glance, it seemed to be better attended (at least at that time) than last year.
I will say at the outset that I recognise the new organisers had very little time to organise too much in the way of changes to the show, other than moving venue - I thought personally Rosehill worked better than Homebush, and the free parking was welcome.
I had a laundry list of items on my shopping list, but was unable to fill any items from the list - I recognise some might be special items, but there were plenty more that weren't. This will come down to getting more retailers/distributors at these shows. Folk who even deal exclusively online (I could list several, but for example Woodworking Tools Australia - The Woodkid, Premium quality woodworking hand tools at affordable prices. to mention a couple) would be great to see there, and see and touch the product before buying - I'm not sure how to get them there, but removing as many barriers to their attendance might help.
I was glad to be there, and did enjoy the vendors that were there. Got several questions answered, which was great.
@Greg Ward - I don't know if you offer this or not, but I noticed that attending with a trailer from someone who live out of town isn't terribly practical, and it's hard to get back quickly to do a pick up. As a result (and knowing you guys are only a couple hours up the road), I didn't buy anything at the show, and I didn't want to bug you guys with inane questions whilst I was there, but is there a possibility you guys can take sales at the show for pickup or delivery arrangements later? You had some sensational pieces I would have jumped all over if I had a way of transporting them.

Hi Mr Midnight. We were very happy with the show, in fact we are always happy!
Just send me an email to [email protected] and I will sort whatever you want.
Thanks
Greg

Hi Midnight’
Boutique Timber is holding their Annual timber auction on the twenty-something of September (22nd?) this year and I highly recommend you go there. I’ll probably hire a vehicle trailer for this one? Also, as Greg commutes regularly between Telegraph Point and Sydney, it may be possible to organise a drop off of smaller deliveries on his way through? It’s all part of their service culture!a rock is an obsolete tool ......... until you don’t have a hammer!

Just my tuppence worth....
Firstly, congratulations to the new owners of the Show. Given the short time they had to reorganise and revitalise the event, they did a great job!
I was able to get most things on my bucket list and the few that were missing from the show will now be sourced elsewhere ( I always give the show first dibs ..... IF I can wait)
10 out of 10 for the venue. The free parking, MUCH better food and INFINITELY better coffee get my vote.
My CONGRATULATIONS and THANKS to the suppliers who did attend. I know there were doubts about the venue, late change of date and even the new owner but I believe all of those doubts were dispelled at the show last weekend.
I will be lobbying those suppliers with whom I have some influence, to return to the show and particularly those who supply power tools. It was, TO ME, the most significant absence to this show this year.
I particularly liked the ‘mood’ at this year’s show. I saw more of my woodworking mates than normal and even managed to corral enough of them for a forum lunch and mini gtg. Next year we should wear our hats and/or polos again like the ‘old days’ so that the forum members who aren’t recognised can join us?
In short, I hope that last year’s event was the low point for our beloved Wood Show. This year’s was much better than last, and I hope that the plans already made for next year will see it return to the vibrant show that it once was!

I generally agree with Fletty. I am also positive about the new show and venue. I have two things that I think need rectification: (1) that all vendors be required to take debit/credit cards. There were a couple who only took cash and that prevented me from buying more wood. (2) the steps from the carpark across the railway are a problem for some, particularly women with strollers and children. I think this needs to be addressed with a flat entrance for them and persons who may be unable to negotiate steps. Overall the experience was positive and I agree food and coffee were better. I understand that Arbotech who were not there on the Friday got the dates mixed and were supposed to be there Saturday and Sunday. I think overall, if the price is right, other vendors
may like to come back. I hope so. Drillit.

It was there for a bit over 2 hours. Most of the time I was catching up with old friends. (Some of them are really old ). I bought some timber from Greg and that was it.

Like others, I am encouraged by the change of ownership and hold out good hopes for the future. I did not spend much, but it would have been more except for the cash issue. I put two bowl blanks back because I don't carry much cash.
There were no steps from where I parked - there may be more than one car park? A few of my mates wanted more info on public transport and we're not sure if you could get there by rail on non race days.
I missed the non-proprietary demonstration program and one or two of the old regulars.
The main reason I went was to show support, but it will have to improve quite a bit to retain my loyalty beyond next year.

A big thumbs up for the venue. Not only the free parking which is a definite winner, but just feels like a better place for the show with plenty of room for expansion.
I too had a great time at the show catching up with people on the Friday. I even went back on Sunday with my 6 year old who had a great time making chopsticks, sitting in various rocking chairs and running around on the grass area outside.(once again good venue).
It was a shame that there were quite a few exhibitors missing, some of which missed out on some of my money. But I am willing to put that down to a last minute(ish) change of venue/date. I certainly hope they and more are back next year.
Like fletty said the food was also better, although it didn't have much to beat. If the organisers somehow stumble across this, I would love to see what they had at the first show I went to in Melbourne some years ago, and that was a trailer with a BBQ selling steaks/ sausages,etc... Any vendor who could provide this would be nuts to not take the opportunity.
cheers

Not sure I would ever ask for a cash loan from a mate. Better for the organisers to avoid the problem. If there are going to be cash only exhibitors make sure there are ATM facilities.
In my case I would have struggled to carry three big bowl blanks back to the car. My shoulders were hurting with just one in the backpack!
