My feeling is that is WAY too much speed. You are probably gunna burn the wood at that rpm. Think soundman is about right at 800rpm.

Bigger motor than 2hp 240V is great BUT you will then be looking at Twin Phase power!! That is one of the reasons (with cost being the primary) I used a 2hp blower as the others like Al B...
