English oak table top
HI,
I've picked up a small English oak table approx. 1600 square. The planks are approx 400 wide and dished slightly (I presume that is because of outdoor weathering). I would appreciate any suggestions on how to "un-warp" the top without having to resort to using a thicknesser.
regards
Czes

Hi Cup,
Almost impossible. If you plane them in a thicknesser or wide belt sander you will end up with really thin planks. Depends on the amount of dishing.
You could try cleaning then up and laying them alternately and see how it looks, and perhaps knock the "tops" off with planer or sander.
Wide boards like that are treasures, so preserving them with their history has merit. You could show them off with a really fine finish.
cheers,
conwood
