    Default Thicknesser

Hi all, I am in the market for a cheap thicknesser, I've got between $300/$600 to spend.
    My first question is-

Do I need a jointer to use a thicknesser? I did see on here some where that It's as simple as making up a jig and with that I would not need a jointer, is this true?

I am looking at the Triton Thicknesser, Does anyone have first hand experience of this unit?

    Thaks to everyone.

Actually, on a serious note, my brother (having built his own house out of recycled timber) had the basic Chinese-made model of a well-known Japanese brand, and when he burnt the workshop to the ground, went and bought the same type again.
I guess the jointer question depends on how straight your stock will be at the start, as a thicknesser won't do much to straighten dodgy timber.

You'll need both if you want to get serious about this hobby.

You can get them individually or get a combo machine which is the cheapest option. Like everything in woodworking, it's all down to budget and shed space.

We'll have to get Azureus working for you so that you can get the jointer/thicknesser video.

If we can't, then go to the following thread. Forum DVD

There are copies of the DVD ready to be sent out to anybody who needs one.
