    I can handle the wear and tear, but the thing that drives me mad is squeaky boards in high traffic areas, particularly when you're creeping around in the middle of the night trying not to wake the kids.
    I have heard squeaky floorbaords can be fixed by sprinkling talcum powder on them. sprinkle the powder brush into the joints with a kitchen broom and sweep up. I havent tried it out but may be worth a go.

    floating floor has a warranty where solid does'nt

    Mate, i can provided a warranty for my solid timber floors, this is greater than the min requirements of NSW state laws.

    For the warranty to be enforced the conditions can not be breached,

    Also Boral would not be happy with your comment on there new product "Silkwood" enginered flooring.
