Buying hardware in Brisbane....
I thought I'd share with everyone expecially those that live in Brisbane where to get hardware from. Items like handles, screws, hinges and drawer runners are available at the Rocklea Markets on a Sunday, the markets open at 6am and close at noon. The drawer runners are sold at a few stands and range in size from 250mm to 500 mm and start at $2, you're paying more than double to triple the price at hardware stores. Some of the other stands have a range of tools, these are cheap and sometimes "cheap and nasty" but sometimes you can get the same product as you would at somewhere like Bunnings for a lot less. Know your prices though on things like handles and hinges though and don't forget, "it's not always a bargin unless you have a need for it".

I lived in Brisbane for a while and I remember that place too........ I agree with you......I usually bought bundles of screws......... at $2 I found it hard not to buy say $20 bucks worth........their things that you will always use......and the local mitre 10.....well......the same bundle of screws could cost me up to $8.....

let the buyer beware
woodie you are right - there are lots of bargains to be had at markets. i frequent one here in bundaberg. BUT, be careful everyone - while you can get some bargains, who's left holding the bag if its defective and you try to take it back next week and the stallholder isnt there?? I would advise against making major purchases at markets unless you are sure the stall holder is a regular. great for little bits and pieces tho.
