    All the tools are for working with stationery or anchored pieces except for the lathe tool...??

    I'll try again, I still think it's the round nosed scraper but for a diferent reason:

    I'm pretty sure Stanley have never made woodturning scrapers, while every other tool shown has been made in some form or other by Stanley.

    Yeah but not a float as far as I know. You're not right, but you're on the right track. Most of the tools are stanley, but think of a characteristic they hold other than that.....

    how about, all the tools bar one, were first made before 1900
    the odd one is the only one made indroduced in the 20th century -- but which one?

    Deesinister you've picked one of the two groups... Many of the tools were made in the USA, What do the others have in common? The one that doesn't fit into the two groups is the odd one.

    All those tools are designed to be held in the hand while being used except for the level, that is hands off.
