    Default Horizontal pen

    Something unusual for my collection!

    Horizontal wood (Anodopetalum Biglandulosum) from
    Tasmania.

Rough looking sticks from the bush, the knots are
very tough, but once turned down to a cylinder the
    results are very pleasing.

    Your comments welcomed.

    Fine pen you have there.

The grain on the timber is fantastic.

I can't see it that well Allan could you post it up for further scrutiny.

Like it lots that wood is very interesting did you have to turn it in the vertical position or just lay down as you do normally.

    Thanks for your kind replies.

Ozkaban: The finish was three coats Shellawax and two Glow.
Sanding went up to 1,200 grit.
Held the polish well - very smooth finish.

Wheelin: Horizontal wood turned horizontally - did not want
    to upset the grain.

Very nice Allan, I like that timber. I was lucky enough to purchase some from the wood show in Qld a few years back

    Thanks for your replies fellas.

Sam, I had not heard of it before a week or so ago then
one of our members threw a couple of sticks of it onto
    the table.

About six of us got enough to make a pen each and
another got the leftover bits for his miniature work.

I must keep an eye out for more of it in future.
