Quick handle replacement
I think this hammer was my dad's? Anyway the handle it had, had seen better days.
might not be the best timber for handle red ironbark.
Turned on 3 centres for that elliptical effect and feel.
could of been abit bigger in diameter but was to lazy to rip up bigger material
thanks for looking any C &C welcome

Ooooh the old handle has certainly seen better days. I put together some tools when the eldest daughter moved in her house. I had acquired a couple of claw hammer handles so I made a handle for one. It looked pretty good too......but it broke while I was driving the head onto the handle. Me thinks Yellow Box is not a good choice. It was a fun thing to do though. Its all to do with the "feel" of the handle in your hand.
Yours looks to have that "feel".Just do it!
Kind regards Rod

The contrast of new and old I am a little unsure.
But I will say that as it is a functional piece does not really matter as long as it gets used.

Well the old handle was going to snap at some point. And someone had been using the butt of the handle for beating purposes?
And I use it fairly often the right way, and due to cracks and age it's given a few splinters.
Smiffie it already has hammertone on to faces!
It does feel ok to use, rest assured it will get a Big workout in time!
